Eric Jones grew up hearing stories about the Welsh settlers in Patagonia in South America, who had travelled there on a ship called the Mimosa. Their intention was to safeguard a culture and language they felt was under threat at home.
Eric is the subject of our book, Over Everest in a Balloon...And Other Adventures, which tells the story of his remarkable life.
Eric named a mountain in Patagonia after climbing it.
This lesson is one of a series we've planned to link with the book.
